--Client's Site Analysis--
*note: i modified the client's site analysis abit for my future references...

Project Definition:
This project is to redesign website. For this project, I will need to redesign Justlife website. Justlife is an organic store that goes beyong just selling organic products.

From my research on the store, their concept is using a nostalgic style, combine with a bit of children style doodles. So I will incorporate these styles into the redesigned website. I will apply soft pastel colors (pastel blue, pastel green...etc) combined with warm colors (such as orange, yellow...etc) to give more contrast. I will also put some flash into the website to make it more lively.

Current Site's Analysis Goal:
At the current homepage, there are several image links. Some image links lead the users to promotion sites while some lead users to the Change Climate site, recipe site, feature product site...and etc. These image links are not well put together, causing the users a very hard time to differentiate which one is which.

To improve this, I will seperate those image links to other pages accordingly. For example: the feature product image link, recipe image link and Living Nature image link will be put under the "products" page, while the Change Climate image link and promotions will be shown in the "home" page. This is to categorize those image links properly.

There are also some broken links, and the maps of the shop in different locations are not viewable. These cause inconveniences to the users who want to know more or who want to know where is the shop location. There are also not much real texts in this website.

Moreover, there are many texts and the users will have to scroll down all the way to read the long paragraphs. So I will seperate those paragraphs into different categories. For example, in the "about" page, instead of having long paragraph like the original website, there will be the basic introduction, and 2 other links to "our beliefs" page and "words of encouragement" page.

Client's Analysis:
Justlife is an organic shop which the first organic shop was started in 1999 when organic was still new to Malaysians. Since then, their persistent effort in raising awareness for a chemical-free lifestyle and promoting values for authentic quality product remain strong. They reject GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and artificial ingredients. In Justlife, they respect the consumers' right to make well-informed purchases and they believe that working and living harmoniously with the nature is the only way to a sustainable and fulfilling life. Each day, they are gaining stronger support from thousands of customers and supporters.

They provide comprehensive one-stop organic shopping convenience for a quality organic living. Justlife houses reputable organic brands from New Zealand, Australia, France, UK, South America and many more, such as Why Not, Living Nature, Babynat...etc. Their products ranged from organic fresh produce to organic baby food to organic personal care.

Their unique selling point is that they have different range of organic products with aunthentic qualities under one roof. Justlife products have no artificial preservatives, no mineral oil, no animal testing or animal ingredients, no solvents, no radiation residues and no synthetic chemicals. So this is also one of their selling points.

Targeted to those who are concern for their health and the environment, the position of the shop is above average as some price of the products are a bit high. But most of the price is still affordable.

Short and Long Term Site Goals:
This website has featured product to increase the business value and also there is a recipe for those who are interested to cook. There are image links of promotion too. Also, there are some projects and contest for people to join. These are the short term site goals. However, the promotions and other image links should be made more clear so that the users can differenciate which one is which. And there are broken links too. The broken links should be fixed so that people won't loose interest in this site.

As for the long term site goals, I will be focus on the layout. The layout should be more interesting and lively to attract more people.

Target Audience:
This website is targeted to everyone who is interested in keeping the environment clean and concern about health. There are 5 projects, which include plant-a-tree, making garbage enzymes and so on, that people can join. This is how the site engages with users through these activities. However, there are broken links.

    Web Design 1 Progress

flowchart of the webpage (i'm doing jewelry made out of junks):

    my (not so neat) sketches:

so yea this is my homepage. after i did some user testing (via msn), they think that the navigations are too small and hard to read:

so i changed the navigation. the user will have to click around to explore where the links are...but it won't be that hard to find 'coz the navigation will be moving abit to show that it is a navigation. also it will have rollover effect with the links come out, as shown below. i also added texture 'coz after some user testing, they said it's better if got texture to give more vintage feel. i also put some junks around the setting to give some "junk feel". in some people's opinion they think the objects still look raw, so i will try to change if got time.

(the red round thing is the logo which i haven't done yet. it's just there to show where the logo is supposed to be. )

below is the intro page which is the zoom in version from the homepage.

and this is the contact page...also a zoom in version from the homepage.

    so erm...i guess that's all....

    *drop dead and die*

    Web Design I - Project 1

(note: web design lecturer and tutor can skip this part if you don't wanna waste your time hehe)
**this post is for project purpose and it's for the web design lecturer and tutor to read (in my 3rd term the MM lecturer forced wanted all MM students to have their own blogs so that they can use their blogs to express their ideas, do user tests and show their college projects. but...ahem, i sort of abuse this blog too much and blog about my own things rather than college projects...lol sorry~ =p) so yea for those who are not studying in TOA one can skip this post if you think this is boring and wasting your time...but i'd really appreciate it if you guys can give me some feedbacks! :D**

    ---------------------------------------------

this project required us to build a website depends on what kind of job you choose using the most high-tech (said so by the lecturer haha) tool of all -- NOTEPAD! which means we can't use dreamweaver (darn!) and which means we can only do the html coding by hand (!) omg......but it was fun la typing the html codes...for now. haha.

so we had a lucky-draw to see which kind of job you picked...guess what, i'm an undertaker! (slap orilia for saying this job is suitable for me! haha)

so hmm...since i'm a (fake) undertaker, so i think my website will be dark and solemn themed. maybe...add in a little bit of gothic element in it? hmm~

my job is not like any normal undertaker who buried human's body...mine will be burying those wandering spirits' souls. ie: those who kill themself and die, his or her soul can't go to heaven so that's why he or her can only wander around on earth...and surely his or her family or loved ones don't have the heart to watch his or her poor souls wandering around so they will contact me to "catch" the wandering soul and let it rest in peace... erm get what i mean? man i'm so not good in explaining stuff =_=''

anyway, my page will consist of "about me" page, a page that intro what kind of wandering spirits are there on earth, a page about the "weapons" i use to "catch" the souls, "service page" and "contact" page. (or maybe a "testimonial" page? =/)

for the style of the design, maybe it's gonna be sketchy style like the picture below:

and the colors i used will mostly be black or dark colors...like the picture below:

that's all for now~ any comments or suggestions are welcome :)
